Beckler Peak Camera Setup

Robert Holbrook, Kyle Ulrich, Liam Holmes, and Teddi McFall prepare to enter the forest that may contain our first wolverine photo.

After trudging up a steep slope and almost being massacred by devil's club, we found a Western redcedar with its bark strewn away from its trunk. This may be from a black bear using its jaw to find a tasty snack inside the bark.

Bite marks?

Lining up the wildlife camera just right to hit the bait

Nailing down the bait casing in order to capture those photo shy animals

What would we do without our mighty tools?

Making of the Bait Casing

Intertwining the the wire
First we cut two 36" sheets of chicken wire. We then intertwined them to achieve smaller wire spacings to assure that nothing is able to get the chicken legs out of the case.

Folding and making a basket
Here we are folding the intertwined strand in half to making a basket shape with the chicken wiring.

Ziptied into a basket
Next we ziptied all the ends together leaving an opening for us to add our chicken tomorrow morning!

Where ze chicken leg will go
and Wallah (Voila) we have our finished chicken leg bait casing!
